ARTS ACTIVISM/FIRST STREET GREEN
2008 – Present Co-Founder and Co-Director, "First Street Green" -- Ongoing coordination and presentation of cultural events at First Park in New York City.
First Street Green (FSG) was founded in 2008 to transform a rat-infested vacant lot into an open art space that serves the Lower East Side community by engaging with contemporary artists, designers, architects, community groups and cultural institutions through a series of programs that activate this public space.
FSG’s first season (2012) of programming included 34 events ranging from dance, theatrical, and music performances to conferences, film projections, workshops, and the installation of a sculpture by Robert Sestok that remained in the park for 12 months.
FSG’s second season of programming (2013) included 2 major installations, each lasting 5 weeks, 4 artists residencies, 49 events, and a recurring open call for murals. We have just completed the second round of murals.
